What it means to be an AdVENTURE student? I am now an eighth grader in AdVENTURE; it is my second years here. To be an AdVENTURE student, it will help you achieve the 21st-century skills. AdVENTURE is a great program that helps students learns using hands-on activities. After teaching a new topic, teachers would assign projects to improve student’s understanding and their skills. These projects will involve in presenting, making products, being creative, thinking outside of the box, technology, making videos, etc. By working on the projects, AdVENTURE students can improve their presenting and collaboration skills while also becoming more creative.

 

       AdVENTURE students have many chances to share their ideas; there are projects that require collaboration. This is a good thing since it helps students be more open to their classmates’ ideas. Moreover, collaboration help support teamwork, students learn how to work in groups or partners. By learning how to work with other people, AdVENTURE students will be more prepared for their career and their future. There are many jobs right now that requires people to work together to create a product. For example, engineers work together to solve problems that we faced. As we work on our projects, it let us follow the engineering process: asking questions/defining problems, developing/using models, planning/carrying out investigations, analyzing/interpreting data, using mathematics/computational thinking, constructing explanations /designing solutions, and communicate information.

 

       Instead of taking long notes and tests for each lesson, AdVENTURE program does things more creative. Teachers would have mini activities that will teach students their lessons. By doing mini activities, it allows students to remember the lesson easier. In addition, doing mini activities is more fun than just taking notes and studying.  Furthermore, instead of taking tests or quiz after learning a different topic. Teachers would test our knowledge using Kahoot, activities, or other programs that are a fun way for students to be tested.

 

       Every project that the teachers assigned to us, students are expected to present their projects. Many projects encourage students to make Google slides, websites, posters, or other programs that would help students present their projects. In addition, by presenting to different people, students improve their presenting skills. This is a very good thing since many students are shy and they are not use presenting too many people. However, by presenting different projects, students can improve. Students can become better at speaking in loud and clear voice while presenting. Instead of being afraid and scared when you are presenting, students can see that presenting is not that scary at all. Learning and improving presentation skills will really help students in the future. Especially if you are an engineer, since you must present your ideas to many other engineers.

       In conclusion, AdVENTURE is a very special program that helps prepare students for the future. AdVENTURE allows students to do the hands-on activities and improve their 21st-century skills. While also, allowing students to be more creative and think outside of the box. Moreover, AdVENTURE encourages students to use different programs or websites for their projects. As a result, AdVENTURE students are preparing for any careers that would involve in using their 21st-century skills.
